ABSTRACT: The role of vocational education in promoting sustainable waste management practices is pivotal for developing skilled professionals who can effectively address waste management challenges. This study aimed to evaluate how vocational education programs contribute to sustainable waste management, identify the specific skills and competencies developed, and assess the overall satisfaction of participants with the training programs. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from participants involved in sustainable waste management training. The sample size comprised 200 students from various vocational institutions. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with relevant experience in waste management education. The case study was conducted at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that vocational education significantly enhanced students' technical skills in waste segregation, recycling, and composting, improved their understanding of environmental regulations, and increased their awareness of sustainable waste management practices. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the curriculum, noting its relevance and practical applications. It was recommended that vocational training institutions expand their programs to include more hands-on training modules and foster collaborations with industry stakeholders to ensure the curriculum remains current and impactful.
